This is a memorial to the Swedish-American inventor and naval engineer John Ericsson. It is located inside a traffic circle, a little ways off from the Lincoln Memorial. This is kind of a niche place to visit because Ericsson is not extremely well known to people, unless you are a history, or more specifically, a naval history buff.
